Laser Cutting of Aluminum Keyboard Housing for the Military IndustryTechnimetal Precision Industries Corporation was approached by a military client to laser cut an aluminum keyboard housing which was to be used within navigation equipment. We started by using an Amada laser to laser cut sheet aluminum into a flat pattern layout. Following the cutting, the metal was punched and then TIG welded. To complete the project, the housing was coated, threaded and silk screened. Each of the completed housings was .090" thick, 19" long, 8" wide and 3" in height. The 20-piece order met MIL-C-5541 standards and, following a 100% dimensional inspection, was shipped to the client's New York location.
