A customer in the railroad industry approached Technimetal Precision Industries Corporation to laser cut a stainless steel bracket assembly. We used an Amada laser to cut the sheet metal into a general shape. Then we bent 90° angles in the stainless steel and followed that by using TIG welding to join the gussets to the bracket. Each of the 140 bracket assemblies in the initial run measured 1/8" thick, 8" long, 7" wide, 4" high and was turned around in 3-4 weeks. Technimetal also agreed to laser cut a total of 400 pieces per year for the client.
